My first grade daughter wanted to help so I asked her what she wanted to draw. "Three dogs and one cat". OK. She drew them and my son traced them on a Wacom tablet while I tried to draw something that would match the edge that I was given from the bottom. I was aiming for the red rock of Utah with the Colorado river running through it and ended up ...

Then my son colored the animals under protest. The animal artist wanted them all brown with black spots.

After the fur flew I stepped in and messed around with layer effects until I could get them to look like shiny plastic overlays. They both took turns on the sun and that was that.

My children taught me how to use the paint bucket as well as how to draw grass. I taught them that most pets have four legs and one tail.
