THe Hoopla Over Gay Marriage

And other unrelated randomness

This oughta be bush-whacking, but its gonna be more random than that category should allow...

I clicked reload and came up that I have 2112 hits since Nov 23. I used to listen to the RUSH album 2112 all the time when I was 10. Isn't that scary?

Some 21-year old freak associate editor at my Alma Mater's daily rag, the Cavalier Daily, wrote an editorial against partner benefits gay marriage, saying equal rights already exist, since any gay man can choose to marry a straight woman if he wants, enabling them to share benefits, so the call for marriage rights and partner benefits are calls for special rights. While I think this poor child may be deeply cognitively disabled, the entire Serpentine Society mailing list is going ballistic about it.... which is pretty entertaining. About 45 messages have flown around the listserv.... frankly, remembering my time at dear old UVa, I am not surprised, since the school is about 100 years behind society in its social awareness (a protest that would gather 20 people was considered a miracle, unless it involved alcohol.....). At any rate, it is indicative of the troubles our society is having right now.

I am thoroughly entertained that San Francisco married a same-sex couple today, and granted more marriage licenses, forcing the court's hand... and that MASS is goin forward with gay marriage. Go on.

My mindset is changing. If the bigots want to strip us of our rights, then I want them to take an aggressive stance and show themselves for the mean-spirited, nasty people they are. That should make the rest of America stand up and take notice and be repelled. My fear is that there may not be enough people of sense to counteract their madness, but at least the gay republicans know who they are working for now... is that crazy?

Is that the rage you wanted, Jimbo ?

And so it goes.

Does anyone know if John Kerry voted for DoMa? I'm curious. I asked one of his minions harassing people outside the Clarendon market Commons on primary day and the minion didn't know. I know he has said he opposes gay marriage but favors civil unions, but I have yet to comprehend what that doublespeak means. Freak.
