Against the cave-in

Dear Senator Webb,

I haven ever donated as much money to a political campaign as I did to yours, nor paid as much attention to a race as yours, nor urged as many friends to vote for you as I did last year.

I strongly supported you because I believed that you would work to end the Iraq war.

The current appropriation bill does not hold President Bush accountable enough for progress, nor does it ensure the safe return of the people who are putting their lives on the line daily in a horrific failure of foreign policy.

I urge you to vote against this bill, and demad that the democratic-led legislative branch return to benchmarks and progress reports - real limits with real teeth - either that, or provide funds with strings geared towards ONLY returning our fighting men and women, who deserve to come home to a hero's welcome for what they have risked, and the time they have missed with their loved ones.

Please see to it that this bill fails, and the only bills that pass guarantee a speedy end to this foolish occupation and the safe return of our remaining soldiers in Iraq.

Thank you, and keep up the good work.

Sincerely,

Dan
