6 years versus 24 hours



In 6 years Bush has:

Created a horrific economy in which those of us who made it before 2001 (owning a home, having stocks/funds etc) are doing fine, but those trying to make it now are sweating with home prices, health insurance, college costs, etc...

Started a meaningless war for no readily apparent reason other than to make his buddies wealthy...

Failed to capture Osama Bin Laden, the real cause of the 9/11 attacks....

Failed to make us really any safer at all...

and alienated nearly the entire world...

Oh, and he turned us from a surplus to a really truly nasty deficit that is going to take forever to pay....

So what has Nancy Pelosi done in 24 hours?

- Voted to implement the 9/11 commission recommendations by a supermajority vote (both houses will be able to override Bush's likely veto)...

- Passed a raise in the minimum wage, with a supermajority margin to resist veto from doofus-boy...

- Passed Stem Cell Research - but not with enough to push past a veto from doofus....

- Pass legislation ensuring that medicare with negotiate drug prices on the govt's behalf (which all insurance companies currently do...) Bush threatens veto of this too, and not enough rethugs jumped on board....

- is prepared to introduce 2 more resolutions - one to cut college loan costs, and one to end subsidies to BIG Oil, who has had record windfall profits.... now if they would work on the legislation to tax the crap retroactively on their windfalls.....

Come on Harry Reid, push these bills through!
