crash the hard drive
lose a lot of very
important files?
today my new G5 crashed so hard it needed to be
'hard' powered off.
upon reboot, the external firewire drive is not there.powered off - powered on - repeteadly,
ran apple disc utility - couldn't fix it - hooked it up to another computer - didn't see it. downloaded
discwarrior 3, which is supposed to be the best disc utility - it saw the drive! it couldn't fix it.
gave up and went next door for awhile
came home, downloaded norton utility 8 - it couldn't see the drive - couldn't fix it. arrggghhh!!!!
!idea! - reboot the blue and white G3 into OS 9 - hook up the firewire drive - boom! sees it immediately.
can i hear everybody say yes! i quickly install discwarrior 3 in os9 and run it on the drive - it fixes the directory - i shut it down, hook it back up to the G5, and reboot - success! there it is - all 120 GBs of my files - all my mp3s, tons of image files, art, scans, you name it - saved again! downloaded the newest
Norton uninstaller and took that shite offa dere - i'll keep the cd because you never know - the next problem, norton might be able to fix
