Dr. Thiel received her Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Southern California in 1983. From 1977-1983, Dr. Thiel practiced as a Marriage, Family, Child Counselor therapist, not only at the present Malibu location, but also in Westwood. She completed a post doctoral internship in clinical psychology under the supervision of Dr. Stephen Rush. Dr. Thiel completed an internship with Dr. William Glasser at his Reality Therapy Institute under the direction of Dr. Mary Ann Dancy, Dr. Glasser’s personal assistant.

Dr. Thiel is a clinical member of the American Psychological Association, American Association of Marriage, Family, Child Therapist, California Psychological Association, California Association of Marriage, Family, Child Therapist, International Association of Marriage, Family, Child Therapists. Dr. Thiel holds California licenses in Psychology and Marriage, Family, Child Therapy, and is a member of Family Mediators Conciliation Courts, the American Federation of Family Mediators, and the Los Angeles County Psychological Association.
Summation of Professional Experience and Areas of Competency
Dr. Thiel has been a university instructor in Adolescent and Child Psychology, Communication and Marriage and Family Practicum in the field of Educational and Counseling Psychology at California State University at Northridge. Dr. Thiel has published a book in family psychology entitled When Your Child Isn’t Doing Well in School, published by Contemporary Books in 1988. Dr. Thiel’s forthcoming book will be entitled The Human Dyad, focusing on marriage and family processes.
