Simcoe County Insulin Pumpers Minutes from meeting of Nov. 15, 2005 @ 7:00 p.m. Attendance: Paul Beckwith, Glen Heatherington, Ken Cheney, Karen Lyn, Faye McNeil, Shannon Ferguson, Terry Ovell, Kate Ovell, Maria Sandke, Cheri Bly. Faye McNeil from Roche Diagnostics gave an informative demonstration of Accu-cheks new glucometer, the Aviva, and their new lancet device, the Multiclix. Shannon Ferguson from Costco pharmacy, Barrie, showed us a brochure they have produced to give their customers information and assistance in pump pruchases. Karen Lyn from Medtronic is now the northern Ontario representative and contact person. There followed a general discussion about glucose monitors, software and insurance. Paul Beckwith reported that Bill 55 died, but it was replaced by Bill 15. This bill will receive second reading on December 1, 2005 at Queens Park at 8:30 a.m. Anyone who is interested in attending should contact Paul @ 705-725-3591. If necessary, I can take some people in my van. Mellany Hellstern has been very helpful in assisting Paul. He also stressed that the C.D.A. needs advocacy volunteers. He received a thankful letter from Michael Gravelle, the MPP who re-introdued this legislation on Oct. 31, 2005. Paul said that it was important to e-mail our politicians to show our support for this legislation.
