As always there were refreshments and snacks. Thanks once again to Zehr's for their kind use of their Community Room! +++ Simcoe County Insulin Pumpers held its October 2004 meeting at Zehrs Painswick Community Room on the 18th with 13 people in attendance to hear Jessica Reynolds of Autocontrol Medical discuss their newly available IR1200 model insulin pump. +++ Feature Presenter: Jessica Reynolds of Autocontrol Medical discuss their newly available IR1200 model insulin pump. The 1200 is an upgrade from the IR1000 and is smaller & lighter. It operates on one AA battery - preferably lithium- and has numerous advancements. Some of these are: -more on-screen prompts -smaller bolus settings possible -quick bolus method -up to 4 basal programmes -expanded status screen with carb calculator. The 4-year warranty applies and the unit is priced at $6595 with several payment plans available through the company. Operating costs are estimated at $189/month. These figures compare with $5995 and $165 for the previous IR1000 model. +++ Greg Boden reported on the tentatively scheduled Cable 10 exposure on Rogers on-or-about November 15. This is a daytime production involving a Q and A for 6 - 8 minutes. Greg also invited all members to drop in at his home on Sat Nov 27 between 1 and 5, for a POT LUCK HOLIDAY SOCIAL . Paul drew our attention to a CDA event on Wed Nov 10/04 to mark the launching of a new Simcoe County Diabetes Support Group aimed primarily at Type II's. We will be represented along with at least one pump company. Programme starts at 6:30 PM and runs to 8:00 with presentations by Mayor Hamilton, Dr Geoffrey Bond (New VR), and pharmacist Bud Sitka. Next meeting is Monday November 15 at Zehrs NORTH END on Bayfield St. Usual time of 7 - 9.
