From Evolution to Revolution, the Paradigm 522/722 Real Time System, this is the new dimension in diabetes management. It consists of the pump and glucose sensor the glucose meter and the transmitter. This sensor-augmented systems have the potential to reduce HbA1Cs and long term complications, reduce glycemic variability by reducing the severity and duration of hyper and hypoglycemic events. It can also offer better control than MDI and even offer better control than "smart" pumps alone. It can do this by providing REAL time data at a glance. The pump will display current 5 minute glucose value, trending arrows, a 3 hour trend graph, alerts and alarms. The result will allow clients to continuously view current blood glucose values, you will be able to note if the BG value is currently trending up or down rapidly. The client can discover how different foods, exercise, medication and lifestyle will affect their glucose levels . AND. most importantly, the the client can now intervene on the a REAL time basis to reduce the frequency and severity of hypo- and hyperglycemic episodes.
