We will be showing a video tape donated by insulin Pumpers Canada of the Dr. Michael Valis public talk sponsored in March 2004. A few issues Dr. Valis addresses in this talk are:
- minimizing the psychological impacts of Diabetes on your self and your family - teens with Diabetes and eating disorders (3X more common and how to avoid) - how long do you go without making a Diabetes related decision? 1 hour? 2 hours? - coping with the fear of going hypo - are modern technologies such as the pump allowing you or your child the power to take 100% responsibility for Diabetes Management? If so, what are the psychological impacts? - why do most people not want to be called a "Diabetic" but love to be called a "Pumper"?
