End Product
A PowerPoint presentation showcasing each letter of the alphabet including
how the letter looks, what the letter sounds like, how it is pronounced,
and an animal
that begins with that letter.
How It Gets Started
Each student will be assigned one letter of the alphabet. That student
will then draw that letter, using the paint tool in Kid Pix. While
using the computer,
students will learn and be asked to identify the keyboard, mouse and monitor.
By hand, they will draw a picture of an animal that begins with that letter.
Students will type their own name in the text box function of Kid Pix, as
well as record their own voice saying the letter
of the alphabet, making their letter’s sound, and saying the name of their
animal.
How It Comes Together
The teacher and technology specialist will work together to import the
Kid Pix drawing into separate slides of a single PowerPoint presentation.
They will also
scan each child’s drawings and insert that on the page. The technology
specialist will supervise and migrate the voice recordings.
Once It’s Finished
Once all the drawings and sounds are placed on each respective slide,
the full presentation can be used as an instructional tool for future
classes, and be
posted on the classroom’s web site. In-house, each slide can also include
a photo of the child who did it, and perhaps a voice recording of their name.
The class will view the presentation as a class and discuss ownership of it as
a class.
