Activity Description
Students will work in groups of 2 or 3 and research information about a specific African nation in order to make a travel brochure about it.

Content Area
Students have used the Internet to research the geography and different characteristics of each African nation in order to create a travel brochure about each country

Computer Skill
Students will use the Internet to research about African countries.  They will use a word processor to make a brochure

How Activity Integrates Computer Skills with Classroom Content
Students will learn about a country and figure out how to highlight the advantages for visiting this country in a brochure.

Content Area
Students will learn how to research a country and how to work in groups to conceptualize a format for a brochure that features aspects about a country that would make people want to go there.

Computer Skill
Students will use the Internet to research about African countries.  They will use a word processor to make a brochure

Teacher Input
Teacher will show several sample brochures from a travel agent.  Teacher will instruct students how to make a brochure in Microsoft Word.

Content Area
In class, students will be shown what some information about a country that they should highlight. Students will be taught how to make a brochure using a template

Computer Skill
In the computer lab, students will be shown how to use a template and change it to suit their needs.

Independent Practice
Students will work together in and out of class to make their brochure.

Content Area
In groups, students will discuss what positive things a country has to offer.  If a nation is in the midst of turmoil, the brochure may be tailored to attract researchers or governments.

Computer Skill
Students will make brochures using templates provided.  They will need to write original material to go into the brochure that matches their intended audience.

Closure
A day will be set aside to have students present their brochures.

Content Area
Students will present their brochures to the class.

Computer Skill
Students will print their brochures and save it onto removable media so that others can view it.
