Experiential Learning Activity
Lesson Plan

Before Class:
  • On each slide there will be bulletted points that explain what each author, theorist and model means
  • Draw similarites between all models
  • Printed slides (102 KB) will be uploaded to WebCT in pdf

In class (10 minutes) :

  • Give the presentation (260 KB) for less than 5 minutes
  • Hand out the instruction sheet with things to think about and places to list steps and observations
  • Allow 2 minutes to read
  • Allow 3 minutes for questions
  • When a bell rings, all questions will cease and students will get up and select materials

Activity (25 minutes):

  • Ask individual students to select at least one building material they’re unfamiliar with
  • Take 25 minutes or less to make the sandwich and list the steps
  • Clean-up will NOT take up class time

After Activity (15 minutes) :

  • Students will take 2 minutes to jot down notes regarding the questions they were to think about while making the sandwich (this can be done earler if they finish their activity early)
  • Have 10 minutes for discussion
  • We will guide discussion with the purpose of drawing out a new model of experiential learning on the chalkboard
  • Limit each person’s floor time to no more than 1 minute
