God bless the cable guy

Cable guy was here today. We get Bravo now. And TNT. And Comedy Central. And SciFi Channel. And FX. And a bunch of other stuff we could care less about. Why don't they just do it a la carte? Pay for the channels you want. I guess then nobody would pay for the Home Shopping Network, right? And people would actually choose between CNN, MSNBC, and FOXNews. And we could skip PAX.

We interrupt this program . . .

Meera is going through this daredevil phase right now. I'm sitting here in bed, and she was sitting in bed with me, and now she's decided to explore the room a little, so she does this total Evil Knievel jump to the suitcase that is standing upright on the other side of the room. She makes it to the suitcase and it rocks precariously back and forth. Then she looks . . . upward (dummy) and stretches out her paw to the wooden music stand next door. As she puts her weight on it, the music stand spins on its spindly base, causing her to do the bugs-bunny-with-both-feet-stretched-between-two-fast-moving-trains move. She somehow manages to recover and looks for mischief elsewhere.

Like on my keytagaboardghfdkjas.

Okay, she's found a comfy spot for sleepytime now, so I think we can return you to your regularly scheduled blog entry . . .

Doug's Ultimate Cable Channel Lineup
- The Poker Channel
- The West Wing Channel
- The Muppet Channel
- The Magic and Juggling Channel
- The MacGyver Channel
- The GOOD Standup Comedy Channel (like what Comedy Central used to be)
- The Law & Order Channel (although NBC is already coming close to that one)
- The Northern Exposure Channel
- The "New Yankee Workshop" Channel

I guess I'm really just screaming for a TIVO, huh?

Can't promise that I'll write tomorrow night, as I'll be at a conference in Berkeley all weekend. It's a conference built on the "Tavistock" model. I've participated in one before, and I absolutely LOVED it. Fantastic way to explore your inner stuff . . . I can't find any good links on it or I would post them. I'll tell you about it tomorrow or Sunday, though.

Oh, and you can bet I'll be reporting in on the Oscars Sunday. This is like the SuperBowl for Corey and I. We're having Rachel and Gina over (our first houseguests!) and really looking forward to it.

Until then, space cadets.
