she's not a little girl anymore

Meera has always been a snuggler. There was never any place in the apartment more interesting than Corey's or my lap, especially if we were doing something that required our laps to be free of cats.

And she never seemed happier than when she was lying on my chest or in Corey's arms, purring and cuddling away.

But that seems to have changed with the move. She's become much more interested in the rest of the apartment, and doesn't really want to sleep next to either of us. When I'm home she doesn't stake out a spot on my lap anymore, nor does she really seem to care when I go to bed. I just looked out there right now, inviting her to come to bed, and she was in her usual spot on the sun porch, watching the lights twinkle.

When Gina and Rachel came over to watch the Oscars with us, it was clear that Meera had found a new love. She slept in Rachel's lap as long as she could, and didn't want anything to do with the men in her life:

Of course, Rachel is a trained massage therapist, and who could compete with that?!

But it's hard to see her separating from us like this. I know she has to be traumatized and upset by the move, I mean, her entire slice of the planet just disappeared one day and was replace by a completely different (albeit bigger and brighter) slice. So maybe this is just part of her adjustment phase. Maybe when she gets used to her surroundings, she'll get all snuggly again. We miss her, though.

I hope she's okay, and I hope she's not too mad at us for moving . . .
