the triplets of belleville

Okay, it's 1986. Probably around 10:00. Three of us come bounding out of the theater at Great Northern Mall to my Dad's waiting car. We pile in and begin assaulting my Dad with details of the best freakin' movie any of us had ever seen. It was The Three Amigos. I'm not saying Triplets was as good as Amigos was to my 12-year old mind, but I felt like that little kid again after the movie tonight, so here goes . . .

Oh my God, that was AWESOME! Wasn't the grandmother SOOO cool? And how the dog kept barking? And that part where he couldn't walk because his calf muscles were so big and then she took out the vacuum cleaner and vacuumed his legs and then took an eggbeater to them? And THEN, when she got in the paddleboat and followed that big oceanliner? And THEN, when the dog kept dreaming, and they were really FUNNY dreams? And then those bad guys? Yeah, they were cooool. Oh, and what about the frogs? HAHAHA! That was HILARIOUS! And what about the music? Oh, YEAH. That was freakin' awesome! Oh! And remember the . . .

Now, now. Can't rely on a little movie review for everything, can we?

Seriously, though, what a wonderful little film. I kept thinking to myself, "How are they doing this? What kind of mind comes up with a story like this? And they're not even using dialogue!"

Fantastic. Treat yourself to this movie while it's still in the theaters.
