wedding shower today

Spent today at a wedding shower on the Russian River for our good friends Margo and Michelle. Here's Michelle, on the left, displaying one of their many gifts:

It was really beautiful up there today, but also really HOT. We just baked in the sun. I don't usually burn, but I have a feeling I'm going to be a little tender tomorrow. My arms were the color of well-cooked hotdogs by the end of the day.

We spent a little time hanging out by the river, ate a bunch of good food, shared a nice toast with Margo and Michelle, then headed off for home. Doesn't sound like much, but it was an exhausting day.

Noticed a road sign nearby for a petrified forest. Might like to see that next time. Also, the Charles Schulz (Snoopy) museum is up there in Santa Rosa. Definitely worth a trip.

Corey and Gina are both in the middle of reading Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, and we had the audiobook in the car. If you've never listened to Jim Dale read Harry Potter, you should really treat yourself. He does voices for every character, and really brings it to life in a way the movies never could. I think he won an emmy for the previous book (he's performed all five audiobooks). This particular book is like eighteen tapes long, but you wouldn't believe how it passes the time on a road trip.

Corey and I also worked out the plans for John and Leigh Ann's trip this week. I think we've got a good schedule. I don't want to spoil the surprise, but I'll be sure to give an update each night.

Lots of work to do yet tonight, so I'm off . . .
