anniversary weekend

This weekend, Corey and I are celebrating 11 years of non-religiously-sanctioned life commitment. (It's our anniversary.) So we decided to spend the weekend in Gilroy, where the annual Renaissance Pleasure Faire is held. We're actually sitting in a hotel room right now writing this. Corey's sitting next to me, helping me pick out good pictures from today (he took most of the good ones).

We left late Friday night and checked into the Forest Park Inn at about 1:30 am.

(That's our little green monster parked out front.) Wow, it was so much nicer driving down to Gilroy so late at night. Traffic was almost non-existent, so it took very little time. The trip to Gilroy would normally take about 2-plus hours, but we did it in about half that.

This morning, we woke up and had breakfast at the Black Bear Diner. Here's my favorite bear, Corey, reading the Black Bear Gazette (their cute little way of saying "menu"):

It was really a nice little restaurant, especially if you like bears.

Then, it was on to the Renaissance Faire.

. . . where we made wooden castles . . .

. . . fed the livestock (the cow was getting a little pushy) . . .

. . . and saw our two favorite comic performers, "Moonie and Broon". They each do an act at the Faire, and we see them every time we come. Moonie does his entire juggling, ropewalking show without talking, and Broon does things like juggle bowling balls, escape from straightjackets, and eat fire. I didn't get a good picture of Moonie, but here's Broon:

and yeah, he really does eat fire. I'd love to know how you do it. It looks really cool!

And that was pretty much our day, but we didn't leave without picking up the first part of our halloween costumes for this year (oh, no. You're going to have to wait for the pictures on that one.) All that was left to do was drive back to our hotel:

And that was our weekend!
