Particle Data Book

New version now available with 2006 data

This is a Palm implementation of the Particle Data Book, a pocket reference for particle physicists.

The data contained in this product comes from the Particle Data Group. Any errors in this product are my own, however.

Features:

• Physical and astrophysical constants
• Data on masses and widths for all particles in the Review of Particle Properties
• Custom font to allow proper display of physics symbols
• Can select and copy a displayed value for use in your Palm calculator

• v 2.01 (1/03/07):
  • Fixed incorrect names for some meson entries.
• v 2.0 (9/21/06):
  • Includes latest particle data. The data comes directly from the computer-readable file generated in June 2006, found at http://pdg.lbl.gov/2006/mcdata/mass_width_2006.mc.
  • Includes up-to-date 2006 Review of Particle Properties values for physical and astrophysical constants.
  • Displayed quantities now include error data.
  • Includes new help dialogs showing how to use the program.
  • Particle widths in GeV can now also be displayed as mean lifetime in seconds. Lifetime numbers are not from the Particle Data Group; they are calculated in the usual way as hbar/width.
  • Standard ID numbers used in particle physics Monte Carlos are now shown.
  • Tested on recent Palm devices (Treo 600, Treo 650).
• v 1.1 (9/19/01):
  • rewritten to build in all data
  • PDBookData.pdb eliminated
  • can now beam the application from one device to another
  • fixed issue with icon appearance in 4-bit grayscale display
• v 1.01:
  • fixed error in value of astronomical unit (AU)
