The longest short trip in the biggest little city in the world!

On Friday, after work, Bill and I hopped onto Reno Air and zipped down to Reno!

The Reno Hilton

What a view!

We checked into the Reno Hilton (not to be confused with the Flamingo Hilton). The hotel had "lost" our reservation so we ended up getting a great suite! We had a fabulous view of Downtown Reno from the 19th floor.

After a night of drinking in a town where the bars never close (including watching Princess Diana's funeral a the Five Star Saloon at 3 a.m. during "Happy Hour") Bill said, "Thank goodness we had the common sense to stop drinking at 4 a.m." We got up at noon and went downtown to get some lunch and visit some casinos. We watched part of the University of Washington Husky's football game against BYU and had a couple of drinks!

 Lori, Dave and Bill

America

We met Bill's cousin Dave and his wife Lori for dinner at the Brews Brothers Restaurant and had some pizza and drinks. Dave and Lori took us out to the Nugget Casino in Sparks where we played Keno and a couple of slots. Of course, what would a trip to Reno be without a show? We saw the band "America" at the Nugget. The opening act was a pair of elephants named Bertha and Angel and a couple of Italian, Argentinian comedians from Los Angeles. We had a couple of dirty Martinis at the show.

After the show we went out on the town again, this time to a club caled Visions. We had some drinks and met a whole bunch of people, including a group from Quincy, California who had just driven and hour and a half into town to go out. Aparently, there isn't much to do in Quincy. We were out late (at 5:15 a.m. we got into the cab!) and had to check out the next morning. ARGH!

Dave and Lori drove us to Lake Tahoe on Sunday, it's only an hour from Reno.

At the Calneva Casino you can stand in two states at the same time!

Gar Woods restaurant from the pier on Lake Tahoe.

Havin' some Wet Woodies with brunch.

The last stop before heading for the Reno airport: Truckee, California. We did a bit of shopping and had some snacks.

I used up my last few nickels in the slots in the airport. I didn't win anything except a free 20 oz. Diet Pepsi from a bottle cap! And I could have won that in Seattle!
