Describe the importance of the attributes in understanding this worldview area. Include any other primary truth revealed in the Scriptures regarding this area (principles, observations, examples, etc.):
It is important to understand that God is one essence and three persons. The establishment of social relationships flows directly from the nature of God, and therefore, the communal aspects of mankind are part of the image of God.
The Biblical Christian worldview position on this area:
God is Himself a social being in that there is communion within the Godhead: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. God has made man to be a social being as well. After creating a good universe, God found that it was not good for man to be alone and proceeded to create a woman; thus society began. God has given certain rights and responsibilities to humans as individuals, in marriage and family, as worshippers, as workers, etc., to arrange society according to godly principles (which is hampered by the fact that men have become depraved after Adam’s fall).
Our Culture’s worldview position on this area:
Society includes everyone, but the traditional subdivisions of family and church are archaic and repressive. Monogamy is unnatural and contrary to our evolutionary instincts, church (and all belief in the supernatural) places restrictions on people which have no basis since they are based on supernatural beliefs. If we could rid ourselves of these constraints, we could move toward utopia.
