FUN STUFF

Updated January 29, 2007

A hodgepodge of games and puzzles, video and audio clips (including Internet commercials,) experiments with Apple's Garage Band application (I'm certainly no musician!) Flash files (some fun and some, well, "interesting,") downloadable files that are way too large for email or streaming, some jokes, press releases, and anything else that strikes a funny chord or doesn't fit anywhere else. Some files are large, so be patient if you have a slow internet connection...

JOKE ARCHIVES

podcast (n.) A digital recording of a radio broadcast or similar program, made available on the Internet for downloading to a personal audio player.

  • Like golf? How about miniature golf? If so, then you'll enjoy Mini-Putt
  • A gambler you say? How about a little Blackjack?
  • Or maybe a few hands of poker?
  • Enjoy hand-eye coordination challenges? Then Polar Rescue may be for you.
  • The classic boredom game, Paper Toss. Be sure to adjust your aim for "fan windage."
  • A geography game you can play with the whole family. See how many states you can correctly place. You'll receive your score at the end of each game. Have fun!
  • Enjoy some of President Bush's more "misunderestimated" quotations. Click the numbered stars on the flag... (I'm a Republican and I respect G.W., but the man does have a propensity for stumbling over his words, and humor is, after all, humor.) Enjoy!
  • Having a bad day at work? Then you'll enjoy this safe and sane way to Whack the Boss! Go ahead... You'll feel better! I'd rate it PG-13 for cartoon violence...
  • The Mosquito Game will keep you entertained for, uh... a minute. Use your left mouse button and swat away...
  • Before Garage Band, there was Singing Horses. Click on each horse at just the right moment to get them to harmonize. If you make a mistake, click on the horse again to stop his singing, then click again...
  • Math Puzzle - You'll need a calculator. Enter the first three digits of your phone number (not the area code.) Multiply by 80. Add 1. Multiply by 250. Add the last four digits of your phone number. Add the last four digits of your phone number again. Subtract 250. Divide your total by 2. Do you recognize your answer? How do it know? (Need a little help? Here's the math...)
  • "16.8 Seconds," a graphic puzzle to test your powers of observation. See how long it takes you...
  • Montage-a-google is a simple web app that uses Google's image search to generate a large gridded montage of images based on keywords (search terms) entered by the user. Try it!
  • Guess-the-google is related to Montage-a-google, but reverses this process by picking the keywords for you. The player must then guess what keyword made up the image - it's surprisingly addictive!

  • Golf Truisms - A PowerPoint slide show converted to a Flash clip. At 6.4 MB, it's still a large file, so be prepared to wait if you have a slow connection. Wisdom with nice photos.
  • The Starbucks Series - Popular commercials for Starbucks Coffee (including Starbucks' Doubleshot Espresso Drink)
  • Pentagon 244 (2.9 MB) - Soon after the 9/11 attack, conspiracy theorists began spinning theories that contradicted official findings. Like most conspiracy theories, this one is loosely founded, but the professional production is worth watching. And it does make you wonder...
  • Balancing Point - Danny Brown employs "reverse destruction" of rock sculptures, dazzling the eye in this magical short film. Amazing video work.
  • 405 the Movie  -  A 3-minute movie made in three months by two guys working nights and weekends on their home computers. It's received national attention and is worth a watch! (2.1 MB version)
  • This 2-minute $6M Accord commercial was done without smoke or mirrors. The sequence where the tires roll up a slope looks particularly impressive but is very simple; there’s a weight in each tire, and when the tire is knocked, the weight is displaced and, in an attempt to rebalance itself, the tire rolls up the slope.
  • Pimp My Ride - Clever Blaupunct ad. Has to be rated PG for stuffed animal, uh... behavior (2.3 MB)
  • Omega 3 - Give a man a fish... (2.3 MB)
  • VW Polo - Small but tough. I'd like to see more of this! (<1 MB)
  • This 4X4 weekend warrior demonstrates the meaning of tenacity in this rock climbing clip (2.5 MB)
  • Killer Quiz (Flash) See how many you can correctly guess
  • The Greatest Movie Line Ever - From the 1940 movie, "The Ghost Breakers" starring Bob Hope and Paulette Goddard. Listen for Bob's comment at the end... And here's more on this classic movie.
  • The Irish Job - A very familiar little green man tears up the streets in this Italian Job spoof from General Mills.

  • Star Trek #1  is an experiment mixing Apple's Garage Band loops with old Star Trek audio clips (5+ MB)
  • Star Trek #2  is another effort mixing Garage Band loops with old Star Trek audio clips (8+ MB)
  • The TSA Theme Song comes from the Bar & Grill Singers, a group of practicing attorneys in Austin, Texas, who sing parodies, particularly lampooning their own profession. I think their best is, "The Jury Sleeps Upright," available on CD from their site. (1.2 MB)
  • Trump fires Kerry - Spoof of George Bush and John Kerry in the boardroom with Donald Trump (1.2 MB)
  • Osama Hunter - The famous croc hunter sets his sights on Bin Laden ( 232 kb MP3)
  • The Big One - A cute country song about a young boy growing up in southern rural America.

  • JibJab, the now household name that is the brainchild of genius brothers Gregg and Evan Spiridellis
  • Stickmen Karate - Are you a fan of martial arts? Then you may enjoy this creative Flash clip. The moves are right out of the movies; even the "slow motion" scenes that have become such a consistent part of the genre.

  • Google Content Blocker (A parody) - Since I suspect the host site won't be up any longer than it takes Google's lawyers to overnight a letter, you’d better look quickly. For those unfamiliar with Google's Content Blocker, it essentially blocks unwanted content from reaching your computer when you conduct Internet searches. This is a clever parody that someone spent a lot of time producing. If the host site gets removed, I've included a screen shot of what it looked like.
  • Watermelon-igami - I’m always fascinated with unusual forms of art, from sidewalk chalk drawings to body painting to origami. Here’s an html slide show of Chinese watermelon carvings that falls into the broad category of fruit art or, occasionally, food porn.
  • Fruit Art - A collection of fruit that seem "almost human." Guaranteed to make you smile and say, "Awwww..."
  • Hand Painting - Some good examples of body painting, hands in this case. Very creative.
  • Barista Art - Here's another unusual art form -- A collection of artistically prepared coffee drinks hosted on Flickr. Some of our local barista's do this, but this collection takse the art form to a new level! Your morning latte never looked so good!
  • I always love sidewalk chalk art. I've emailed most of these before, but here's a nice collection.
  • Crop circles, I suppose, would have to be considered an art form, right?
  • Gum Blondes - Here's an art form I hadn't seen before. Jason Kronenwald lives in Toronto and makesportraits called Gum Blondes out of chewed bubblegum. This well done site requires a Flash player.
  • Currency Origami - The age-old art form, in this case using currency. Learn how to make something of real value (depending on the denomination you use.)

  • James' 33rd birthday party; James singing the birthday song... Download the 12 MB (zipped) movie file here .

  • Dawn with Dana Daniels after his EDH performance. Includes a video clip of his act.
