Arrowhead was essentially a
one street town hugging the
base of the Selkirk Mountains
along the northeast shore of
Upper Arrow Lake. Most
building were of wood
construction. It was said that
the women in the upper widow of the
Selkirk Hotel on John's layout were plying
the "oldest profession known", which
explained why one was scantily clad, if at
all. G. T. Newman was a friend of Johns.
John retired the first locomotive he owned
to a park in the center of town which was
surrounded by a green picket fence and also, typical for the time, sported a
gazebo.
