ALL THE STUFF AND MORE...
By popular demand (well, at least two people asked for it), I've
created this page which has links to all of the music and movie files
I've put up in one handy dandy place. I'm keeping the page simple
because I don't feel like dealing with lots of photos and suchlike.
Maybe I'll fix it later.
DIMENTIA 13
These MP3 files are by my failed psychedelic rock band/project Dimentia
13 who put out 5 LPs on Midnight Records in the Eighties.

SACRED STAGES
This is not about drugs. It's about something else. From the unreleased
rock opera Hovercraft.
IN THE PAST
I did not write this. I copped it from a mid-60's group called The
Chocolate Watchband who copped it from We The People. Also from
Hovercraft.
SOMEBODY
STOP ME
This is the second song from Hovercraft in which the opera's
protagonist is very full of himself indeed. He may even believe he's
one of the Rolling Stones...
TWICE
THE SPEED OF TIME
This was recorded in my room at the f-Models' house in Kent, Ohio in
December 1984. I did not have a four-track cassette machine. So I made
multi-track recordings by recording first on to a cheap boom box, then
playing that recording back on another cheap stereo while playing along
to it & recording the results back onto the cheap boom box. I would
do this until the layers of noise got so thick the recording was
unlistenable. I always recorded the drums first since I kind of liked
the degraded sound the drums got by doing that. It reminded me of the
compressed drum sound on lots of 60's recordings. The problem was that
the two tape players ran at different speeds, meaning I had to retune
for each track. This is the noise you hear at the beginning of this
tune. The guitar is a Univox Les Paul copy. The bass is the same Univox
played through an Electro Harmonix Micro Synthesizer to make it sound
an octave below normal pitch. The drums are a set I found at a garage
sale for $20. The fade out at the end was accomplished by turning down
the volume on the machine playing the instrumental track while
recording the vocal track. I re-recorded this on 16 track for the
second Dimentia 13 LP, Mirror Mind. In retrospect, I should have used
this version instead.
GOD PART III
This has nothing to do with Hovercraft. It's from Dimentia 13's 1990 LP
"Flat Earth Society." It's part 3 because U2 did a song called "God Pt.
2" after John Lennon's "God." I figured if U2 considered themselves on
par with Lennon and therefore qualified to do part 2, then I could do
part 3 since I was way better than U2.
HEY,
MAHARAJA!
This was another tune for the Hovercraft set. It started off as a tape
of me noodling on the electric sitar over which I dubbed a bunch of
other things. At the time I thought of it as a demo, so I redid it. But
the redone version sounded too finicky somehow. So I deemed this messy
version the keeper.
FOG CAMOUFLAGE
This is from a cassette dated March 25, 1987. Since it's 20 years old
now I thought it was time to dust
it off again. This was recorded at my apartment with a fat plastic
Buddha sitting on the table smiling at me as I was playing. I wrote and
recorded a lot of stuff like this that I never put on the Dimentia 13
records. I often wish I had because if I'd done so maybe when Beck
started doing the same kind of thing about six years later I could've
said "Hey, man, I did that!" and been really self righteous and bitter
(click on the title and listen up). At the time the idea of moving to
LA and being a dishwasher seemed somehow romantic. Little did I know...
YESTERDAY
WILL NEVER TELL
Dimentia 13 used to play a cover of The Beatles' "Tomorrow Never
Knows." One day a couple people in the audience were shouting for it
and another couple started answering them, “And yesterday will never
tell!” I liked it and wrote a song around that title. From Dimenta 13's
third LP, Disturb The Air, produced by Glenn Rehse of Plasticland.
ST.
JOHN SOCIETY'S CHILDREN
This was my attempt to write a psychedelic freak-out jam along the
lines of Iron Butterfly's "Inna Gadda Da Vida," but keep the length
down to three minutes. I used to play it for people and afterwards ask
how long they thought it was. Most answered between five and seven
minutes. But it’s almost precisely three. Most of the lead guitar is by
John Fallon of The Steppes. Also from Dimenta 13's third LP, Disturb
The Air, produced by Glenn Rehse of Plasticland.
ODFX
These MP3 files are songs by ODFx (aka Zero Defex), the hardcore punk
band I played bass for in the early 80's and again in the mid-2000's
(i.e. now). For more info about the band and these tracks go to the ODFx page.
NO MORE CONTROL
DRUGS
LOST HOPE
HYPOCRITE
ZOMBIES
DON'T THRASH
(This one is actually by the band PPG. I'm not on it, but ODFx vocalist
Jimi Imij plays bass and ODFx covered this song)
WHY DO
YOU HANG OUT?
(This is also not by ODFx, but by The Offbeats, another band on the
early 80's Cleveland/Akron hardcore scene)
VIDEO FILES
These are all Quicktime video files.
THE DOVER
STORY
Here the members of ODFx recount the story of one of their most
memorable shows. This is part of a documentary I'm putting together
about the scene.
BY THE DAY
Here's ODFx performing at the Beachland Ballroom December 10, 2005
SWINE
HUNT DOGGEN
Here's ODFx at Square Records in Akron Dec. 11. 2005 doing a song about
a burning bagel and a doberman.
BEAT THE RACE
Here's Agitated, in which I subbed for their absent bassist, also at
the Beachland on 12/10/05
WHY DO YOU HANG
OUT
Another piece of the documentary I'm putting together. This is the
Offbeats doing their big hit (see audio file above).
MAYBE
This is one of my favorite Offbeats songs. But this video will probably
not end up in the documentary cuz it's a little iffy. I didn't have
enough footage of this tune to construct something worthy of the song.

Here's My Niece's Foot the band I was in in 1994-95 in Japan playing
their big hit.

ZEN: THE MOVIE
I don't know if there'll ever be a Hardcore Zen movie or not. But
here's my imaginary promo trailer for it.
