November 28-29 - Saginaw Valley Orchid Society Show, Midland Resort & Convention Center, Midland, MI - Please bring plants to Bill Cadman’s on Tuesday, November 24 between 6 - 9 pm, or call Bill to make other arrangements. Bill and Jim will put together the display and bring it back.
November 14 - GLOS General Meeting - Note: This is the 2nd Saturday, not the usual third
October 30 – November 1: The Orchid Society of Middle Tennessee would like to invite you to participate in our fall 2009 50th Anniversary Mid-America Orchid Congress show and sale. The show will be held at the Franklin Marriott Cool Springs in Franklin.
October 17 - Special GLOS Meeting: Topic: Orchid Potting Media and Techniques.
September 19 - GLOS General Meeting -- speaker will be Dick Wells, topic is Phalaenopsis.
August 22 - New Members Meeting at Porter’s Orchids, 2:00 pm

January 17 - GLOS General Meeting. Speakers: MDOT staff botanists and endangered species experts Dave Schuen and Ulrika Zay
2008:
December 8: GLOS Board and Show Chair Meeting: 7:00 pm at Bill Cadman's.
November 29-30 - Saginaw Valley Orchid Society Show in Midland. Bill Cadman & Jim Heilig will collect plants and do the display.
November 15 - GLOS General Meeting. Speaker: Fred Clarke of Sunset Valley Orchids. Fred's topic will be: "New Hybrids with Catasetum, Cycnoches and Mormodes."
November 8-9 - Michiana Orchid Society Show at Holy Cross College, Notre Dame (South Bend), IN. Marilyn Lee will collect plants and do the display.
October 18 - GLOS New Member meeting: 2:00 pm at Porter's Orchids. This will be a potting demonstration and a question and answer session. For more information, please consult the September 2008 Calypso.
October 13 - GLOS Board Meeting at Leslie Behm's.
October 11-12 - Three Rivers Orchid Society Show in Fort Wayne, IN.
September 20 - GLOS General Meeting. Speaker: Ernie from EnLightened Orchids.

June 8 - The GLOS Study Group meeting at Green Acres Orchids, 2:00 p.m.
May 24-25 - Northwestern Michigan OS Show -- Traverse City
Lynn O’Shaughnessy and Doris Asher are taking responsibility for collecting plants and setting up the Society display for the Memorial Day Show. Please bring orchids to Doris’ house between 3:00 and 8:00 on Wednesday, May 21st – or phone/e-mail her to make other arrangements.
May 10 - GLOS General Meeting. Speaker: Rob Halgren of Little Frog Farm Orchids. Rob’s talk: “Little Frogs and Little Orchids”
This is also our “Business Meeting” where we elect the officers for the coming year. Please be sure to come and vote.
April 12/13 - Ann Arbor Orchid Society Show at the Matthai Botanical Gardens in Ann Arbor, MI.
March 15 - GLOS General Meeting. Our speaker will be Lynn O'Shaughnessy. Her talk is entitled: “My Experience at Growing Specimen Plants” From Lynn:
"I have been growing orchids for 18 years and specialize in growing plants of the pleurothallid alliance. I have won over 300 AOS awards for my plants. Of those, 37 were for culture including three CCE awards (Certificate of Cultural Excellence). I will show some photos of spectacular specimen plants, talk about how I grew them. Regardless of what your favorite orchid is, you should be able to pick up some tips to help you grow your own specimen plants."
