What would you do if one day you saw your own face on a missing persons poster? Mike Watson is a quiet, conscientious young man who leads a highly uneventful life. But all this will change when, one day, he comes face to face with his own face... literally. This short was not meant to be found here for entertaining value but rather for educational purposes. It was shot digitally by a 4-member crew including myself, with a sub-$1000 budget as part of our final project, for a digital filmmaking course we was attending back in '04, in Amsterdam. Although I don't feel that this short film represents where we stand today, neither artistically nor technically, we can only learn by experience and through the mistakes we make and hopefully do not repeat. That is why this short film can be found here, in order to teach some mistakes and pitfalls and hopefully to prevent other student filmmakers from repeating them. What do I mean by mistakes? Well, this subject is open for discussion and I would rather hear from anyone who is interested what is your opinion and what do you feel is good or bad about this short flick. Technical Issues: Shot on Panasonic DVX100A @ 25P fps PAL, with Century Optics Converter Lenses Edited on Apple Final Cut Pro 4.5 HD on a PowerMac Dual G4 1.25GHz Color Correction and Grading on Apple Final Cut Pro 4.5 HD & Magic Bullet Editor's Suite Visual Effects on Discreet Combustion 3 and Studio Artist 3 The MOV file was immensely compressed for the WWW by a ratio of 11:1 with QT Pro The 950 MB MPEG-2 File resulted in a 85 MB H.264 MPEG-4 File, which is not that small for internet download, but fair enough for a 18 minutes short.
