A Wild week in Windy Wales

Being one of our favourite places, and the birthplace of our beloved Ollie, we decided to head to mid-Wales for a few days over Easter. We had a really good time, and the countryside really was beautiful.

As usual, click on a photo to see it full-sized and click again to come back to this page. We hope you enjoy!!

On our way out, we visited friends Mair and Thomas. The Black Mountains are behind us.

This is Church Cottage, the very
first property restored by the
Landmark Trust.

It was very...cozy. This is about half the cottage in one wide angle shot.

Being a sunny morning, we
motored off to the isolated little church at Mwnt.

Grant climbed the big hill above the church; you can see it far below.

Ollie instead chose to walk down to the bay and beautiful beach.

Next was Tresaith beach, and we ventured up to its waterfall.

From this message, it appears that we spent too much time on the beach.

Our GPS unit took us along many interesting little side roads!

Here's two magnificent old battlements. (I refer of course to the towers of castle Cilgerron!!)

The inside of one of the castle towers.

Dog and Boy.

I dare you to pronounce these
place names correctly!

We visited a local pub for lunch, and there we met a couple who had a couple of Corgis....

...one of which turned out to be related to our Ollie! Small world!

Here's the family at the broad beach at Poppit Sands, which is fun to say, especially in a Dick Van Dyke mock-cockney accent!

There was a teeny-tiny waterfall at Poppit we were able to get close to. Ollie lapped up the fresh water!

Grant from a distance on a coast walk. Don't worry, he's safe.

The hedges on some of these country roads were well over the roof.

Grant relaxing along the river Telfi. The sun was warm, but the water was still cold!

Ollie cooling off in the river. He's so low, that's only 4 inches of water.

We didn't always eat in pubs. Grant cooked dinner like a master.

Continuing his tradition of travel haircuts, here's Don in Cardigan. Grant is obviously unimprssed.

We all went on a little horseback
ride through the countryside. Does this look at all familiar?

Don spent time with a blue-eyed blond on holiday for a change...!

We visited the Devil's Bridge, which has been a tourist destination for centuries due to its spectacular falls.

Here's a view of the 3 bridges built one atop the other. The lowest dates from the 11th century!

That's all, folks! Click here to get back to the home page.
