Christmas Memories
If you are really still, really really still you
can hear the jingle of bells, telling us that Santa was here.
Each of the girls had written
Santa asking for a doll with golden blonde hair, and Santa didn’t
disappoint. Here are Joanne and Rosemary under the tree with their
very own Mary Hoyers. The dolls were dressed in hand-knited ice
skating
outfits, fashioned after those designed by Mary Hoyer. Joanne and Rosemary
had seen the dolls on the boardwalk that summer, and longed for a doll
of their own. And much to their wondrous eyes that Christmas morning
it was all captured by their mother on a Kodak camera. Among the other
treasures were dolls with hand crocheted outfits made by a favorite
neighbor, and a pixie doll just for little Joanne. Joanne also got
a Park and Shop
game which she played endlessly. Rosemary got a Motorola portable radio
that she could listen to, and got her first taste of rock and roll. Click

What a memory captured in l954.
