Dr Mark Donohoe is one of Australia's best known medical practitioners, especially in the fields of chronic fatigue syndrome, adverse chemical effects on health, environmental medicine, nutritional medicine, adverse responses to vaccination, "shaken baby syndrome and complementary and alternative medicine (CAM), which integrates alternative and orthodox medical practices for the best care of patients.

Many of the principles utilised by Dr Donohoe in his medical work, education and writings are derived from the discipline of environmental medicine. This approach holds that optimising health requires careful attention to the person's environment. Optimal health is supported by free access to clean air, clean water, clean and nutritious food, and non-toxic, well ventilated homes, schools and offices. The failure to achieve these allows for the degradation of health and reduced resistance to illness and disease. In addition, all aspects of the person need to be addressed if health is to be established, making an awareness of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual essential to quality health care.
