Bookings Bookings for consultations can be made through our office from Tuesday to Friday, 10 AM to 4 PM. Consultations are carried out from 9 AM to 5 PM (last booked appointment 4:00 PM) on those days. Face-to-face consultations Please note that from 1 August 2000, our practice policy has changed significantly, and all consultations will be strictly limited to the following schedule.
When booking your appointment, please specify the length of the consultation you require unless it is an initial or standard follow-up consultation. Please understand that, for the benefit of all our patients, we cannot extend your consultation beyond the time you have booked. Telephone consultations In special circumstances, telephone consultations are available for patients who are unable to attend the practice because of incapacity or distance. These are not intended to replace face-to-face consultations, but do allow for simple follow up and advice. Please note that telephone consultations are not, at present, Medicare rebatable. Payment is made by credit card, and bookings need to be made through the office.
Email consultations - doctormark@mac.com For patients with access to the internet, email consultations are available. Like phone consultations, these are not intended to replace face-to-face consultations. They are for non-urgent matters, and most will be replied to within three working days. The email needs to identify the sender, and the response will be made to specific questions or matters raised by the sender. All email sent to the address doctormark@mac.com will be assumed to be for billable medical work. Please note that any information transferred by email is not secure, and can be intercepted and read by third parties. If this issue is important, arrangements can be made for secure communications using PGP security software. Please contact the office or Dr Donohoe for further information. Please note that email consultations are not, at present, Medicare rebatable. Payment is made by credit card, however, bookings are not required.
Cancellations Cancellations or deferment of all appointments require at least one working day's notice. Otherwise, a cancellation fee of 50% of the scheduled appointment fee will be charged. Payments Please note that we do not bulk-bill, and that all consultations must be paid for in full at the completion of the appointment. Payment can be made by cash, cheque or credit card (BC, MC, Visa).
What to bring Patient are advised to bring any relevant documents for the first consultation, such as:
Please note that many of Dr Donohoe's patients are extremely sensitive to a broad range of common volatile chemicals and smells. We ask that you refrain from wearing perfumes, scented deodorants, hair sprays, dry cleaned clothing and any other items which may have even a subtle odour. This is very important, and patients failing to do this may need to be rescheduled or canceled.
After the consultation Pathology, which may be needed following consultations, is generally Medicare rebatable. Certain tests do not currently attract rebates under the Medicare system. These include
Please discuss these with Dr Donohoe if you have concerns about these. Typically, a follow-up consultation is scheduled between four and six weeks after the first consultation, allowing time for the tests to be performed and results returned. At the follow-up consultation, the results are reviewed and explained, and an action plan is set at that time.
