Brrr....

It has been pretty cold here at night for the past couple of days. We've covered the azalea bushes in front of the house to keep them from freezing. The cat has decided that her heat trapping fat deposits (she's a bit of a porker) and her prodigious calico colored fur are no match for temperatures in the 20s at night, so she's using the litter box in the garage.

It has been dry too. Static everywhere; gotta be careful with those man made fibers they create static electricity. A simple peck on the cheek from one's wife becomes a Captain Marvel moment: SHAZAM!

Both conditions are unusual for California's central valley in January. (But not as unusual as a a 72 dergee day in New York in January.) It's usually pretty wet here in January, and the cloud cover traps the heat a bit.

Usually, my intruments sound their best in the hot, dry conditions of summer. But the lack of winter rain has allowed them to sound as crisp in January as they do in June. Playing has had an extra measure of sonic reward since the end of December, even as global warming causes some intellectual discomfort.
