Bye Bye Brontosaurus

D is obsessed with Dinosaurs. Every bedtime story is a Dinosaur story. Every picture is a Dinosaur water color. She plays T-Rex to my Brontosaurus.

Well, she would have played T-Rex to my Brontosaurus if she hadn't haughtily informed me, "Mom...EVERYONE knows there is no such thing as a Brontosaurus!"

Yes, once again, my 4 year old sent me to the internet to do dinosaur research.

And yes, once again, she's right. Who knew? I loved the Brontosaurus. So gentle. So kind. The vegetarian dino.

This coming of age in the 70s that I did...not so good for dinosaur education. What'll she teach me next?

I keep waiting for her to get obsessed with the history of WWII or the the Bretton Woods currency system or the economy of Japan in the 1990s, so I won't be the stupid one. I'm starting to think that my role for the next 10-12 year is to, in fact, be "the stupid one" in contrast to her emerging mind. As long as I don't have to explain calculus, ever, we should be OK.
