| 2001 Tucson Reunion
Report
The Ninth Bi-Annual Brat Reunion marked a return to the city that hosted the Third Reunion, this time with nine hundred Brats and spouses there to enjoy the fun. Our class had about twenty attendees, down a bit from the Chandler and Atlanta Reunions but still one of the better showings. We even had a few first time attendees including Basil Abul-Hamayel, Steve Rush and Pippa Roulette.
Tucson provided a great Arabian climate, with warm breezy days and cool evenings. The weather was unseasonably pleasant throughout our stay. The single level houses, bougainvilla and oleander and desert surroundings made it feel just like home. If Tucson were any more Dhahran-like it would have had a Main Gate. |
The Sheraton El Conquistador was a perfect Reunion location. The center of the resort was an enormous swimming pool surrounded by large grassy areas. It served as our oasis, drawing the flock in day after day. It was bracketed on three sides by full service bars that stayed awfully busy. It also offered a snack bar serving up a variety of dishes in no time at all. The resort had four restaurants that offered everything from a traditional steakhouse to the latest southwestern cuisine. We colonized a major section of prime poolside real estate
very
early and kept it for the better part of three very relaxing
days.
Some were so relaxed they missed our class picture. |
