| In May, the Brat tribe returned
to Houston, the city where the Reunions began, to laugh, smile,
reacquaint and reminisce for three wonderful days. We had a ball. The weather was remarkably mild, with temperatures in the mid 80s and little humidity. Summers in Houston often resemble those in Dhahran, so this was a Godsend. We even got some rain over the weekend. On Friday we got settled at the hotel, had a drink or two at the bar and looked for old friends as they arrived. Our class had almost twenty-five in attendance, which put us among the highest of any class. This was the first Reunion for several of our classmates, including Bruce Burgner, Michelle Crawford-Kocurek, Danny Gauthier, Doug Johnson, Marika Szentivanyi (who came all the way from Australia) and Amy Thompson-Steindorff. Lesley Wernsdorfer was at her first since ’93, so she almost qualifies as a Reunion virgin. Our sixth-grade teacher, John Beard, and his wife, Christine, joined us as well. ![]() On Saturday we hung out by the pool, enjoyed lunch |

the area. That evening Ma’an Nasir, Saib Isa and Geoff Korwann
joined in the fun.
This Reunion was particularly special in that we were able to escape from the larger group for several hours on |
