Into Thin Air - John Krakauer's best selling account of the 1996 ascent of Mt. Everest in which five people were killed. It is a riveting story.  Rob Graham writes: "I can't recommend it highly enough." After reading it you won't actually have been to Everest, you'll just feel like you have.

Get Well Robin!

Our dear friend (and former Class Rep.) Robin Van Der Zee-Sego was injured in a car accident in August and suffered a broken leg. She's going to be fine, though her plans to take up tap dancing are on hold for now.

Doug, Penny, Tara, Natalie and Davis Johnson.

Doug writes:  "I finished up high school at St. Paul's in Covington, LA, just outside of New Orleans.  My parents thought the all boys Catholic environment was just what I needed after being expelled from Hawaii Prep for forgetting which dorm was the boys and which was the girls.  (Plus a little beer in the dorm - Thanks Mark)

I attended college at Louisiana Tech, a small technical college in north central Louisiana.  I met my wife during my first quarter at Tech.  We dated from that point on and were married four years later upon her graduation.  She got her degree in Math and English education and taught at the local high school while I completed the engineering program.

I joined International Paper as a process engineer in Monroe, LA. We lived in Monroe for eight years and had Tara (8) and Natalie (6) while we were there.  I was transferred to the Corporate Technology office in Mobile, AL, which we loved.  We were there for 2 years and had our third child, Davis (2) with the Florida beaches only 40 minutes away, our girls were golden brown all year long.

We moved to Cincinnati when my department relocated there last year. We love the city and enjoy all four seasons. We have more to do than we have time(with 3 children!).   I am on the road 60% of the time, visiting our production facilities around the world.  The travel keeps the job interesting, but I am getting tired of spending so much time on the road.  I just returned from a 3 week trip to our mill in New Zealand and expect to go to Russia soon.  We may transfer to the New Zealand production facility next year.

We love to ski and try to go to Colorado on occasion and hit the beach each year.  We plan to spend 10-12 days in Europe next year.   We both enjoy weight lifting, tennis and running.  But when you have three kids, they are your main hobby."
