go on this page, I assume, so
leave room for it all. Close on the face of a grinning
TICK. He’s holding a CHAMPAGNE GLASS full of a clear,
carbonated liquid.
TICK
(burst)
Isn’t this the best
New Year’s Eve party
ever?!?
TITLE
vs. Auld Lang Syne!
Page 2
Panel 1
Wider to reveal a posh New Year’s Eve party. Favoring the
Tick, who has one arm around the shoulders of a despondent
ARTHUR.
TICK
Out
with the old, in
with the new...
Closer on the Tick and Arthur. The Tick has just put on a
conical party hat.
TICK
A celebration of the future, Arthur!
Tomorrow is at hand, dangling like a big,
fat worm on the hook of destiny. So we
celebrate!
Closer, favoring a conspiratorial Tick, hoisting his
glass.
TICK
I’m
drinking sarsaparilla.
ARTHUR
Listen, Tick. I’m not really in the mood
for—
TICK
Sarsaparilla. It’s like root beer, only
clear!

Panel 1
Arthur’s had enough. He yells into a mildly bemused Tick‘s
face.
ARTHUR
(burst)
Tick, will you please
leave me alone!!!
Wider. A curious Tick leans down until he’s face to face
with an angry Arthur.
TICK
You’re...upset, aren’t you Arthur.
Closer, favoring Tick.
TICK
No. Not upset...nervous!
ARTHUR
Leave it alone, Tick—
Tick is standing now, grinning and raising one finger as
if he’s “got it.” Arthur is blushing furiously.
TICK
Nervous because it’s New Year’s Eve and at
Midnight you’re going to try and kiss your
girlfriend Carmelita.

Panel 1
Wider as the Tick continues. Arthur is mortified. The Tick
still has his glass of Sarsaparilla. CARMELITA is in the
background now, clearly visible but not aware of Arthur or
the conversation.
