The copper finial for our turret roof came in today -- here's a picture.

The porch framing is now complete, and some of the trim is even installed. The porch posts and balustrade won't be installed for some time, though. This leaves only the turret roof to be done in rough framing, and it's really starting to look like the elevations we've been looking at for over a year now!

January 6th, 2001

This week, the house got it's house wrap, and work on both the exterior trim and the front porch got started. The first subcontractor's site trailer also got moved off the lot, so I was able to get a couple of overview shots from better angles.

The house from a clearing thorugh the trees on the lot. This is the view that people driving up to the house will see.

The house from the street, pretty much directly in front of the lot. Some of these trees will be thinned out when we landscape.

Close-up detail of some of the installed trim. The crumpled grey material is some lead flashing.

The beginnings of the porch framing. Note that the "posts" currently up are only temporary, enabling them to frame in the roof.

Some ready-to-hang porch rafters, showing the notch that fits over the outside beam.

December 16th, 2000

Although there hasn't been much progress on the house exterior this week, here are a few shots of what did happen.

I also tried taking a few pictures of the interior framing, which has seen a lot happen this week, but they just look like a jumble of lumber, so I haven't posted those. The next interior shots will probably be posted either after windows are installed or after rough-ins start, depending on how interesting things look.

A close up of one of the "turnarounds" on the garage gable. This has no functional purpose, it's just there for aesthetics.

The subfascia detail, up close and personal. The lumber attached to the house provides a nailer for the soffit.

December 10th, 2000 -- Roof Update

A few more shots (taken yesterday) of the roof progress. Most of the roof has been sheathed now, although the turret is still a work in progress.

November 26th, 2000 -- More Framing Pictures

I stopped by the site again on Wednesday the 22nd, this time while the framing crew was working. They were in the midst of finishing the second floor turret area, so I got a few shots of the crew doing their thing.

I've also included some pictures of the first floor partition wall framing, so you can see how the rooms are starting to be carved out of the first floor space.

November 11th, 2000 -- The First Floor Framing

Here's a good-sized batch of new photos showing the structural framing for the first floor of the house. It was raining today, which is pretty evident in the shots. Most of the shots show the temporary bracing that will hold up the exterior walls until the second floor deck is framed as well.
