How I painted a 10 foot fiberglass guitar
Here is how I painted my guitar sculpture with Golden acrylic paints in a very intense 12 days. I got one color painted on each day.

I brought the guitar home in my Caravan with the seats taken out.
I patched up some damage and then went over the guitar with 000 steel wool.
I transferred the type onto the guitar back. No problem on the flat back.
I projected the type on the front. Very difficult due to the terrain.
The type is taped off and then painted with Hansa Yellow Opaque.
Vat Orange is airbrushed on and the tape and newspaper masking is removed.
Pulling off the tape is great fun! Nice clean lines... YES!
Painter tape is used to tape off for the next color, Primary Cyan & T. Wh...
I did a LOT of crawling around on my knees... and bending over... HARD WORK!
The back is so easy compared to the nightmare obstacle course on the front.
My brainstorm was to use 3/4 inch Avery label dots for the dot pattern.
Peeling off the dots to reveal the holes. Painting in the circles was too hard.
PLAN B ... I painted the dots yellow and stuck them on. Much easier and quicker!
Day 11...Golden Fluid Acrylics Carbon Black is used for the lettering.
The whole guitar was painted with a 3/4 inch white synthetic brush and #6 liner.
The finished back. I worked 12-14 hour days each day I worked on this guitar.
The MSA Varnish is applied here. See the SHINE?! OOOH... AAAAH!
You can see how much paint I used for the guitar... and lots of tape!
TA-DAAAA......
Over 100 hours went into this project.... I think I will take a nap now.
