Here's what's going on for me this festival.

I'm playing in the Adam Thomas Trio Sunday June 22nd noon - 2 at the Granville Island Market Stage. Adam is a wonderful bass player who happens to also have a beautiful and a knack for writing great tunes.

On Tuesday June 24th, 9PM - 1AM I'll be performing with the Vince Mai Project at the Yale. This is an excellent and fun band playing Vince's superbly crafted compositions interspersed with some kickin' tunes from the Soul Stream book featuring Tim Fuller's great voice and vibe.

Finally, on Canada day (July 1st) noon - 2 at the Granville Isl. Brewery Taproom Triode (Kerry Galloway, bass; Bernie Arai, drums) will be performing our unique mix of original material and slightly morphed standards.

I'll be playing with Christie Grace for her CD release event at the Van East Cultural Center on Oct 25.

The Vince Mai Band is playing a noon hour concert at the UBC School of Music Recital Hall Sept 26th. There will be a second show at The Yale as a part of their "Smooth Jazz Festival" on Sept 27th, 7 - 9PM.

I'll be performing in concert with August on Sept. 23rd. Four excellent singer/songwriters who decided to take a dedicated soloist (who can't play and sing at the same time to save his life) along for the ride.

I'll be playing with the inspired and inspiring Jodi Proznick on Thurs. Nov. 2nd at Bogart's.


Friday, Nov. 4th you can find me at The Smoking Dog with saxophonist Dave Davies.


Sunday, Nov. 5th I'm back at Bogart's; this time with the brilliant Kerry Galloway on bass.

Next week:
Saturday, Nov. 11th I'll be playing with Stevie Vallance at the Cellar. This gig will be recorded for an upcoming CD release, some come make some noise for posterity.

I'll be playing at the Pender Harbour Jazz Fest this Saturday, Sept. 16th.

They've got a gorgeous setting over there that rivals that of the Kaslo Jazz & Blues Fest. I'll be playing from 10AM until 11:45 with Bernie Arai on drums and Chris Gestrin on organ; then again from noon until 2 with the Fred Stride Big Band, and finally from 4PM until 6 with Bernie Arai on drums and Adam Thomas on bass.

There's a hip new spot in town and I'll be playing jazz in there Wednesday nights 7 to 10.
There will be featured wine and drink specials and all Keith's Beer is $3 a bottle.

Lowry Olafson is taking me with him to play the Islands Folk Fest on July 23rd and 24th

I'll be playing at The Spotted Prawn on May 27th and June 3rd.

Just started working on material for Fred Stride's big band album which we're recording on June 3rd and 4th. This is some very challenging music and the guitar parts have much more to them than your typical big band guitar chart. The ensemble is comprised of a stellar cast from the Vancouver scene and I'm really looking forward to the sessions.

playing mostly standards. I love doing gigs like this where I get to revisit the classic tunes that informed most of my playing concept. Come relax, have some good food, or just a drink.

Bogart's Chop House & Bar

Well, here's a long past due update: I have a couple of gigs at the Jazz Cellar which I expect will be quite special. The first is May 9th with Christie Grace's tribute to Joni Mitchell. I really love the line-up for this project; Jodi Proznick on bass, Tilden Web on piano, Pepe Danza on percussion and, of course, myself. The next weekend, May 14th, I'm playing in the Chris Tarry Quartet (yes he's back from NY, but only for a week) playing some of the material from his new CD as well as some of our classic (in our minds at any rate) trio repertoire extended by the gorgeous playing of Jon Bentley.
