Day 2: Aboard the Southwest Chief

It's
9:08 AM MDT and we're stopped briefly in La Junta, Colorado. Without available
Wi-Fi I won't be able to upload this post until later. Sleeping in coach was not
very successful, the same as my trial trip last month (8 hours overnight from
Little Rock to St. Louis). I did wake up to see us arrive in Hutchinson, Kansas,
where I used to spend a lot of time growing up. We're about 40 minutes behind
schedule, having left KC a bit late and then being held somewhere after Newton,
Kansas (where we passed the eastbound Chief). A few more hours to Raton Pass,
then my 1 p.m. lunch reservation in the dining car. Since I'm traveling alone,
I'll be seated with strangers... I'm sure I'll have something to report about
that later.
