The goal mrbump2

The Twin State Peregrines, a team of 11 and 12 year-olds from New Hampshire and Vermont, traveled to Cuba in August 2008 to play a series of games with youth teams on the island. Peregrine players and coaches are drawn from eight small towns on either side of the Connecticut River that divides New Hampshire from Vermont.

The Peregrines flew to Havana on August 9. They were slated to return on the 18th, but Hurricane Fay delayed their return until the early hours of August 21. Travel difficulties aside, the trip was outstanding.

In Cuba, they stayed in Havana, and play games with Cuban teams both in the city and at the Salesian Sisters' convent in Pe√ħalver. The Peregrines lost 4 and won 4, including the coveted Mango Cup! More importantly, they played great games in a spirit of friendship with their Cuban opponents. The kids hit it off on and off the field, making their coaches and parents proud.

The Peregrines are grateful for support from their local communities, from their families, and from friends of youth baseball everywhere who helped us build ties with Cuban kids and encourage understanding between our two countries. Our goal was to serve as good ambassadors for youth baseball on behalf of everyone who supported us so generously.
