I like to write, and this page is where I publish the results. I wrote my first piece of fiction back in high school. I don’t have a copy of that story any more, and am I glad, because it was awful! I got interested in writing again in the fall of 1999, and started with a “fanfic,” or fan fiction: a story based on someone else’s work. Two of my stories have won awards, but my favorite award is to hear from a reader. I’d love to hear what you think of my stories! If you want to write to me, my address is dgoldsmith@mac.com. I’m still learning HTML, so some pages look different from others. I plan to improve the look over time, and make things look more consistent. |

All of the stories I’ve written so far are based on Japanese anime (animation) and manga (comic books). If you’re not familiar with the original series on which these stories are based, you may find them a little hard to appreciate. Of course, these works are based on characters and situations copyrighted by another author, and so strictly speaking they are unauthorized derivative works. However, Japan has a long tradition of tolerating such activities, and in fact fan works are often much appreciated, and even sold in limited quantities. I won’t be pushing my luck that way, so here and on the Usenet newsgroup rec.arts.anime.creative are the only places you’ll be able to read my fanfiction works. Now, on with the show! Click on the story name to go to the page for that story.

Several people have sent me fan art based on my stories. If you have any fan art you would like to send to me, I would love to add it to my gallery, as long as it’s in good taste and is original work. If you’d prefer, I will link to it on your page instead. Joseph Palmer has a great article on how to format prose nicely using HTML. I took advantage of what Joseph has learned and adapted his CSS and XHTML templates for these pages. Thank you, Joseph! |

A note about updates: I only change the date on a page when the content changes in a significant way. I don’t change the date when fixing HTML, broken links, or typographic errors. If you are interested in changes on that level, a page watcher should work for you.

Tuesday, February 26, 2008: Chapter 7 of “Notes from Juilliard” is up. Sunday, March 25, 2007: Chapter 6 of “Notes from Juilliard” is up. So much for “soon”... I also added another nice artwork by Daniel Wren to the Fan Art page. Wednesday, February 7, 2007: Chapter 6 is coming soon. I apologize for the long delay, but Real Life has been incredibly busy. There is one scene I need to tweak a little before posting, but it's nearly there. If I can get a couple of hours free I should be able to post it. Monday, May 22, 2006: Updated the Fan Art page with three more pictures from Daniel Wren. Thanks, Daniel! Monday, January 30, 2006: You can now subscribe to this RSS feed to find out about site updates. Friday, December 23, 2005: Updated the Fan Art page with six pictures that had been waiting (huge apologies to the artists). The RSS feed will have to wait a little longer; it’s more complicated to set up than I’d thought. Thursday, December 22, 2005: Posted Chapter 5 of “Notes from Juilliard.” How embarrassing; eleven months without an update! Tomorrow I plan to finish updating the Fan Art page, as well as setting up an RSS feed that people can use to track changes. I also made small changes to chapters 1-4 of “Notes from Juilliard.” Sunday, Janary 2, 2005: Posted Chapter 4 of “Notes from Juilliard.” I’m very sorry for the long delay — my life seems to have gotten busier and busier and time for writing less and less. I’m also backed up on fan art submissions; I hope to have those up later this week. Sunday, August 29, 2004: Posted Chapter 3 of “Notes from Juilliard.” Saturday, July 17, 2004: Posted Chapter 2 of “Notes from Juilliard,” and posted a big backlog of fan art to the Fan Art page. To everyone who has sent me mail in the last few months: I simply haven’t had time to respond, and now it’s gotten quite backed up. I will try to respond to everyone, but it may take a while. Saturday, June 12, 2004: I decided to go ahead and post “Notes from Juilliard,” chapter by chapter. |
