Photographs from the Hakone area

I took these on a day trip to Hakone while on a business trip to Tokyo.

Riding the cog railway. It always seemed to be on the verge of toppling off its tracks.
miyanoshita.jpg:
The town where Nodoka, Ranko, and Akane visit a hot spring inn. I didn't actually get off here and look around; I was too pressed for time... ^^;
openairmuseum.jpg:
The Hakone Open Air Museum, which was quite interesting. Basically a large sculpture garden with some buildings here and there for indoor art.
cablecar.jpg:
Riding the cable car to the summit, looking back the way it came.
crater.jpg:
The summit. As you can see, there's a lot of venting. The atmosphere was aptly summed up by a young Japanese woman, whom I overheard remark to her boyfriend "Nani, kono nioi? Kuuussssaaai!!" ("*What* is that smell? Ewwwwwww!!"). I couldn't agree more. A very scenic and very smelly place.
Back to the story!
