Kate Bush - Ariel - 2006

I’ll start of by saying, for those of you that are already Kate Bush fans, that no, this is not Hounds of Love, or even The Sensual World so don’t expect those comparisons. But Ariel, Kate’s first album in 12 years, is a Kate Bush album, and quite a good one at that.

Making the Cut: experiment 1

{ex1} For every roll of film, or batch of digital photos we shoot, there is the inevitable process of reviewing each photo and marking those few that are extraordinary (whether by skill or luck) and those that are bound for the trash bin, either physically or virtually. Orchestral Manuvers in the Airport

Dan's picks for Top Albums of 2003

Though I dig get a lot of new music in the last year, not all of it was released in 2003. So this list is actually two parts - my picks for top albums released in 2003, and my choices for the best albums I first heard in 2003, regardless of their original release dates.

versioning - thoughts and example on cropping and tonal variations

I shot this photo at the Monterey Dunes a few hours before my friends', Suzanne and Aaron, wedding. I was quite happy with the original photo as is, but decided to try a few variations as an experiment of style and technique.
