The winch ground control switch is a double safety. If the 500 amp switch is left ON, and the ground control switch is off, one cannot use the hand remote, or shorting wires, to run the winch. When you turn the 500 amp switch on, power is supplied to the winch and the remote system; the Winch control ground disconnect will still prevent operation.
