how to participate

for detailed information about walk logistics, read our
resource handbook

For starters, you could walk with us and tell us your stories of resistance. There's no need to carry a sign or banner, our planting of wildflowers along the walk route speaks louder than words. Bring some seeds and be a part of the planting.

Another option would be to take a copy of your favorite nonviolent activist book and donate it in the name of the Barbara Deming Memorial Peace Walk to your local library. If your library is on the Walk route, there will be a ritual performance going on as we donate them together, as an act of empowering our local community.

Can you offer some walkers a place stay for the night? If so, how can we as walkers aid in the process?

Would your local organization like to sponsor a pot luck dinner for the walkers where we can connect and communicate with each other?

Do you play an instrument that would increase solidarity among walkers? Bring it along (if its not too heavy to inhibit your walking!)

Would you like to make our stories heard so that we know we are not alone in the struggle? Should we speak out at town halls?

A Barbara Deming poem will be read at the start of each day and also at the close of the day. Do you have poems you'd like to share?

What would you like to do?
