what's in a day

a typical day will start from a local church, town hall or library at about 10 a.m. we will gather together and head out for our ten mile day of celebration, performance, rituals, and readings. we will be walking on the side of the road - no civil disobedience is planned at this point. our walking is a way of taking positive, nonviolent actions that bring awareness to our responsibility to speak out for what is right.

groups who might be interested in walking, who would have valuable words and insights so that we all may learn and grow from this experience are:

Plant

Remember

one action that has been planned is that we will be planting wildflowers along the path of the walk. bring seeds with you if you would like to participate in this nonviolent celebratory ritual.

What would YOU like to do?

Pot luck dinners are an option if local organizations are interested in making sure that happens.

For those who will be participating for over a day, sleeping arrangements will need to be arranged. Can you put up some people in your own home for a night? Do you have stories that you'd like to have recorded as part of an artistic documentation of the Walk? If you are not able to walk with us, what else can you do while we are in town to make this event special for yourself and others?

Daily updates on the exact location of the walk can be found out our daily web site that will be remotely updated to keep you informed. If you would like to walk with us for a day or two, you should contact the voice message machine at 518-273-4287 for daily updates as to where we are leaving from and arriving at. This machine will be updated each night so that people may join us. This message machine will be the most reliable way to get information after July 19th.

There will be a support vehicle that will be taking care of walkers, so even if you can only walk one mile, there are plenty of ways that you can join the walk, and help us.

Can you be a local contact point for the walk where people could call you for specifics? As the date gets closer, a recorded telephone message will be available, as well as information printed in the local media and via community radio stations and public access cable. Use your local media to promote peace and justice, and let your message be heard.
