MarsCon is always looking for interesting guests to provide workshops and programming for us. If you think this means you, don't hesitate to contact us at guests@marscon.net. We're particularly interested in local authors/artists. Click here for Guest List.
MarsCon features a variety of discussion panels and workshops with a variety of top fan, pro, and semi-pro guests on topics ranging from SFTV to miniature painting to doll making to our writers and artists workshop. And don't forget Sci-Fi Win, Lose or Draw!
Two Nights of EntertainmenFriday Night Entertainment will be exciting this year! We'll have juggling, bellydancing, filking, improv, and of course the ever popular Robin Welch!
Plus, there's also our Saturday night entertainment with even more comedy, filking, folking, and dancing. Come and listen to the music and laugh to the on-stage antics. And, as always, a generally congenial atmosphere for all thing fannish.
Did someone mention parties?
We like parties. In fact, have I ever told you how MarsCon get started?
Once upon a time I and the other original Martians threw a party at a convention in support of a fake WorldCon bid. (The bid was for Mars in the year 2095). The party was a hit (the alcohol soaked cherries became a tradition) and more parties followed. Eventually, these parties grew out of control and became a convention of their own.
Now, fan run room parties are great - but you know that our illustrious Con-Suite staff has to get into the act as well with the Friday Night Theme Party. This year's theme? So, You Want to be Super Hero.
MarsCon does not an actual costume contest (we're not sure we're ready for that yet) - but costumers need not dispair. New for this year, we will be giving out awards for the best Hall Costumes!
Hall Costumes = Costumes worn while wandering around and enjoying the convention. Our crack panel of mobile judges will noting costumes that meet their exacting criteria (or grab their attention in other ways) and the wearer of the best one will receive a 25 Mars Bucks (a $25 gift certificate to the dealers room). Additionally, The best Pirates & Wenches Costume (Friday night theme in the con suite) will also receive 25 Mars Bucks (a $25 gift certificate to the dealers room).
In our continuing efforts to address the needs of our ever multiplying clientelle, MarsCon is working to provide for our younger guests. If you have ideas for children's programming or would like to help, contact our Family Programming Coordinator at children@marscon.net.
Please note, Children's Programming is not a daycare/babysitting service. All little martians who attend childrens events must be accompanied by a responsible parent/guardian. MarCon cannot accept the potential liability incurred by being responsible for children.
