The Droid Hunt
The Droid Hunt is a "scavenger hunt" type game created by 501st Legion founder Albin Johnson as a fun way for convention goers to interact with members of the 501st, and recreate the suspense of Imperial Stormtroopers policing the galaxy! The first Droid Hunt took place at DragonCon 2004 (Atlanta, GA), and has been successfully enacted numerous times at many different conventions and other events. Please join the 501st in the Droid Hunt at MarsCon!
To play:
You have come into possesion of a seemingly innocent droid. Little did you know that it might be harboring data valuable to the Rebellion. Imperial personnel from the elite 501st Legion have been dispatched to MarsCon to search for this droid. It's up to you safeguard your droid, but how long before the Empire catches up with you?
- Visit the 501st table at MarsCon on Saturday morning between 9 am and noon to pick up your free Droid Hunt badge. Wear your badge prominently as you walk the convention, making no effort to either hide it or have it discovered. Let the Imperial troopers, officers, or hired bounty hunters find it on their own!
- The Hunt will officially begin at noon on Saturday. If Imperial personnel approach you in full costume (helmet on, if applicable) and deliver the line "How long have you had these droids?" you must surrender your Droid badge. Feel free to act "in character" when dealing with the troopers, and have fun with your role as a Rebel sympathizer!
- When giving up your Droid badge, make sure the Imperials give you a raffle ticket in exchange. The Hunt will end at 5:01 on Saturday afternoon, after which there will be a prize drawing for Hunt participants as a "thank you" for playing along. Be sure to bring your raffle ticket to the 501st table at approximately 5:15 to see if you've won the prize! Your ticket may also be handed in at the table in exchange for one complimentary Droid Hunt badge after the game ends, while supplies last.
- Remember, this is a simple fun way to recreate the feeling of the Star Wars universe! The 501st Legion thanks you for playing along and making this a memorable event. May the Force be with you, Rebel scum!
