MIXED MEDIA JEWELRY
I use a blend of polymer clay and traditional jewelry materials to create unique, one-of-a-kind and limited edition pieces of jewelry.
My work is made with an artists modeling compound called POLYMER CLAY. I choose polymer clay as my medium for three reasons. First, polymer clay is a versatile medium that can be sculpted, molded, stamped, textured, carved and more. Second, polymer clay is light weight allowing me to create large pieces that aren't to heavy. Third, polymer clay blends nicely with other mediums providing me with unlimited design possibilities.
I often incorporate traditional jewelry materials into my jewelry designs. Materials I use include metals, fibers, stones, pearls, glass and anything else I find that blends well with my design.
The metal components of my jewelry are sterling silver, 14k gold-filled, vermeil (sterling silver plated with 14k gold) or 14k gold. Occasionally brass or copper are used.
